  • how does this engine start in the cold?

  • @GarrettJDB

Engine starts fine in the cold normally on the first pull, but you do need to use the choke to restart the engine even after it is warmed up. I found the engine to be running a little lean under a medium to heavy load. I suspect because of EPA standards that the engine is tuned very lean at temperatures in the 70 degree range or so thus, making it lean in cold weather. I have ordered several larger main fuel jets and will richen it up some to get rid of the lean condition.

  • you are lucky we got 24 inches of snow and what is the part number of the engine and did it just drop right in as a replacement.

  • @ncrdisabled

The engine number is 66015 . Yes it bolted right in and needed no modifications. If your snow blower engine has two shafts (pto on the cam) then you need to modify your snow blower since this is a single shaft engine.

I just replaced my old Tecumseh 5hp with this honda clone on my snowblower. Mine bolted right up to my craftsman snowblower. I just needed a new crankshaft bolt and two now belt guide bolts. It starts second pull from a cold start. I too have to re-choke it every time when warm. I had the same suspicion that mine is running a bit lean too. If your larger jets make a difference please let me know which ones you replaced it with. Thanks!
