Flourescent lightbulbs use 25% of the energy
of incandescent, and halogen, and gives off little heat, reducing cooling bills. This saves you lots of money, and delays planetary extinction by 5 years

  • Love it and I am using them all over my house

  • Thanks. I am glad you are using them. Incandescents are being banned in Australia and California. They should be illegal in the US.

  • omg your cute as hell,,hey can i put one in my fridge

  • yes you can, they generate much less heat, walmart is suppose to start using LEDs in their refridges, first replace your common lights. The only light you should leave incandescent, is ie the attic light, you never use :) I replaced a garage door light and took off the plastic sheild yesterday, it was pulling 100watts for the 10minutes it comes on twice a day. I replaced it with 14w. Thanks

  • Mercury is bad for the environment and expensive to dispose of.

  • burning coal put more mercury in the air from incadescents, than flourescent bulb's put into the ground. Also, put your old flourescent's and old batteries in a shoebox, and recycle them in 10 years after the box is full.

  • I have them, but LED's may be better. Less energy & no Mercury content. 1 drop of mercury poisons 6000 gallons of water.

  • ReverendUncleJimmy has a good vid on this topic.

  • Your my Hero

  • The reason incandescent bulbs burn electricity is because the are based on the same principle as a heating element on your stove. Electricity is passed through a poor conductor, which results in heat and/or light. They arent very efficient. The flourescent bulbs tend to be a bit dimmer for the same wattage, and they flicker a bit when you turn them on, but they save money.

  • Well that would have to be a pretty big shoebox, and you'd have to assume that all your power is coming from a coal plant, which is only true for some people, correct? Also at the end of that 10 years, we'll still be in the situation where there are very few places that accept tubes, and almost none that accept them from individuals. What is the cost of the emissions to ship the tubes across country to the nearest facility?
