Ummm a piece of news guys and gals; it's a fictional piece of work written in a period of time when not alot was known about the topics DOTT deals with and when the political climate was very different, so to make it relatable of course the BBC is going to update it and change somethings - or else it wouldn't make any sense to a modern audience. It made sense, was entertaining and very well thought out, I thought it was a great piece of TV, Izzard was awesome as was Brian Cox nuff said !

I thought that this version was good when I watched it last christmas, but then I watched the 1980's version, which is so much better.
Why couldn't they keep to the 1980's script, and had the SF of today?

He only pops up twice in the book, but at crucial junctures. Perhaps you might be interested in WyndhamWeb, the internet's first dedicated John Wyndham site?

Is this plausible? Certainly Eddie Izzard's acting is not. This is an absolute turkey, though the original is a masterpiece.
For any Wyndham related question go to WyndhamWeb, the internet's first dedicated John Wyndham website.
