As part of the celebration of evolutionary biologist Charles Darwin's 201st birthday on February 12, the UNI Freethinkers and Inquirers are co-sponsoring the third annual Darwin Week. This year's event takes place February 7-11 and features a series of presentations by faculty members from UNI as well as other invited speakers. Each day's lectures will be focused around a particular theme, and will culminate with a keynote speaker. This year's themes include Sexuality, Religion, and Critical Thought. Keynote speakers include Greta Christina, a sexuality and atheism blogger and Dan Barker from the Freedom from Religion Foundation. All events are free and open to the public and will take place in the Maucker Union in the center of the UNI campus in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Darwin Week promises to provide lots of food for thought and discussion, so check it out if you are in the area!

For more info, visit the Darwin Week website. Co-sponsors include the American Humanist Association, Iowa Atheists and Freethinkers, and the Secular Student Alliance (for a complete list of co-sponsors, please visit the Darwin Week website).

  • @kingkong8974 Portraits of Darwin, Newton, Einstein, Archimedes, Gauss and other savants should be on currencies worldwide. Money should honor the true font of wealth: knowledge.
