The matchlock gun was brought in Japan in 1543 by a Portugese for the first time. Then, the Japanese quickly learned how to make matchlock guns by themselves.
Soon, Japanese people started to use those guns in wars.
This demonstration video shows how they operated the guns in the old days of Japan.

  • The western powers (in the 1500s) may have possessed firearms before the Japanese, but the Japanese were able to reproduce better matchlocks and use them more effectively in combat--like at Nagashino with Nobunaga's idea of Volley Fire. Awesome video.

  • @Anonymous34223 you ignorant bastard

  • swhat am talkin about !

  • most of the men firing these matchlock muskets would either be in hunting clubs or are retired police officers or military personell. The average Japanese citizen is unable to own firearms, even these.

  • @1x93cm Well, "we" have a system for the Use of Weapons too. ^^

  • @victorwongvw Absolutely! Think about Silk e.g. But I'd prefer that People would apreciate the East and all its Fascinating aspects, without downplaying the West.

  • @LutzDerLurch Well I know what you mean. It's because people tend to think the 'East' as ancient and exotic and therefore have all sort of fantasy about it, can't blame them really.

But still there is plenty of interesting stuff about the Asian cultures to be appreciate, like the firearms and gunpowder history

  • @victorwongvw Yes, I do. i looked it up and found that the Chinese used "guns". I agree that many things came from China and the East, but some People, I think, eyaggerate heavily, as if the Europens didnt invent anything...like the "Katana-Asian Martial Art: Top / Sword, western MA: nonexistent or shitty" Stuff. Take Care! :)
