This is just another Exciter Variant.The L2 coil is separate from tha L1 coil.The Exciter can be adjusted by moving the coil off the collector around.

The video would be much more interesting if the author had provided a circuit diagram, information about the coils (wire type, diameter and number of wire turns) and the specification of the components.

The circuit is the basic Slayer Exciter with another coil off the collector.
The Stiffler tower(L1coil) is 143 turns 23awg.The bobin coil is 23 turns 23awg.The coil off the collector is 70 turns 23awg.

How is the performance of that setup; consumption wise? Happy with it?

Performance isnt bad but could be better.
It used 1 mA to 50 mA off 12v.
It is rather compact and therefore a nice setup for a actual lamp fixture; I like that part! :)
