  • awesome herbie

how much power does your VW beelte have and what year is it ?

  • 120-130hp, as of this video, and it's a '69

  • Sweet, Did you ever run it in a 1/4 mile?

How much does a stock 70 bug weigh if you know?

    5 stars!

  • Best run in the 1/4 was last year in Oct '06 14.205@97.16mph with a Engle W110 cam instead of a stocker, 15psi boost, pinging like crazy on 91 Octane. a '70 should weigh around 1900lbs empty

  • a beetle with 120 horse power can run mid to high 13s, if you got 165-180hp you should be running low 12s high 11s

  • At 1200lbs, Yes. Otherwise, No.

According to your logic a stone-stock 1600dp powered (60hp SAE gross)1900lb Beetle would run 16.60's.

  • what type of transaxle are you running? is it stock too?

  • Hello,

I'm also busy building a turbo on a stock 1600 AD engine.

So you are driving with 12psi boost on a stock engine without an Intercooler right?

I am curious how your engine is holding out, any troubles with early detonation / pinging?

    Greets,

    Jasper

  • @rymo69 my 72 bug is 1750 pds gross, full tank of gas with me in it. and its all stock, all steel.

  • Ok about how much is a setup like that and where can I buys the parts. I got a 1972 Bug w/ 1600 motor and dual progressive weber on it. Where do I start?

  • No, had a wastegate preload spring issue. It was solved later, I would recommend HD springs anyway though.

  • Fukengroovin

  • sounds like a gocart when you rev the engine. I dont mean that in a bad way. Its kind of cool.

  • Can you tell me who can i find a plan to make the Turbo Engine like your Beetle?

    greets from Austria mike

  • 70 hp? don't make me laugh . . .

It ran 14.205@ 97.16 Mph (ran 80mph in the 1/8th)60ft was a dismal 2.369 seconds.(spun em hard)at Edmonton's Fastest Street car Shootout on Oct4,2008. only changes from this video were a swap to an Engle w110 cam, and 15psi of boost. at 1930 lbs car weight it works out to an approx.output of 165-180hp.

  • 160 hp, i don't think so, probably around 70hp

  • 160Hp

  • 160 HP

  • my beetle is a 1600 dual port.. id like to put a turbo on it but unluckily, i dont have any idea wer to buy here in the Philippines..

how i wish my beetle can run faster like yours..

  • did you do any other mods to get it turbo ready besides the clutch and the turbo? Also have you ran it on the dyno yet?

  • shit im getting me one of them for my 1600!

  • IF, I'm reading your question "right", the answer is a AiResearh (Garret) T3, as it came on an 1985 Chrysler LeBaron.

  • mai know the turbo your using? please...
