Rengasdengklok

This is a beautiful town near Jakarta in West Java.

In 1997, there was a riot in this peaceful little town of 200,000 people. Mobs attacked churches, a Chinese temple, two houses and scores of businesses.

Back in 1945, it was in Rengasdengklok that students tried to persuade Sukarno to declared the independence of the Republic of Indonesia.

Beatiful town??? come on Kent you must be kidding! Its really dirty and smelly. Garbage dump anywhere, becak (pedicab) and angkot (small van used for public transportation) ruin the town's traffic, poor road quality and public facilities are faces of Rengasdengklok nowadays. I dont know whats the problem with this town, seems that it is not Rengasdengklok that I knew when I did my elementary scholl in this town 15 years ago.
