Anyone who thinks Shaun White was disrespectful for playing the air guitar at the end of the national anthem has something wrong with their brain. Shaun is proud of winning the gold medal for the USA, and the joy of winning a gold medal is a feeling few can imagine. For those idiots who think he was disrespectful, did they happen to notice he had his hand on his heart before and after the air guitar. In my opinion, Shaun White showed respect for the USA in the medal ceremony.

I watched it on NBC and it was the highlight of the night for me. I was serving in the Army when the Hendrix performance at Woodstock was making the rounds. It was a nice tribute to those days. Shaun White's little take was spontaneous, in the moment, and great fun. This has been the most enjoyable Olympics since I was young - less jingoistic, more Olympic spirit, and athletes who are free spirits. That, to me, is real patriotism. They win too.

Shaun works hard, doesn't take steroids and is gracious to other competitors, can't say that about our NBA, NFL, MLB and NHL players!! Shaun wins gold and is an awesome athlete, the US needs more people like Shaun and less Kobe and Tiger Woods! I felt proud watching Shaun on the medal stand in 2010 but i was ashamed of the thugs Lebron, Carmelo and Kobe on the basketball court in 2008! How embarrassing they were jumping around like idiots! I am glad you found these Olympics in spirit, I was there (many vids on BOARDERAMA) and the Medal Ceremonies too--I met & spoke with Shaun's parents after the win. A special event for many, fairly judged.
