How to use your reloading press to prime brass. It's a simple process but there are some things you need to know. This method of priming is great for priming either military brass or new unfired brass. The press gives you the handloader far more force than can be gained from a hand held priming tool.

  • Sorry, if your primer tube is "jamming", something is seriously wrong. I've been reloading for over 20 years using the RCBS priming and never once had one of the priming tubes "jam". I also don't know how it is unreliable. I reload for over a dozen different calibers using large and small primers (pistol and rifle).

  • @Steve5404 It could be a defective one. My dad had it before I had it.

  • Hey did you know that they have a little aluminum tube that you can load all of your primers into and that was you do not have to load each of the primers onto the priming arm by hand... It is super handy and saves a lot of time. Might want to look into it if you use the press priming as much as i do! :-)

  • @richardbertrand2 Yes. I have that. It's unreliable and jams a lot.

  • @ammosmith Well I would suspect that you know a lot more than I do about the setups, I was just curious as to why you did not mention it. fair enough, and I would like to say thanks for all the awesome videos! Really has helped!

  • @richardbertrand2 I saw a press that had a primer detonation using this tube system. The user loast an eye and was lucky there were only 20 primers in the tube. I like the hand priming systems myself. I can bring the brass into the living romm and prime as many cases as I need too. It's about personal preference really.

  • Thanks for showing me how to reload without Lee precision.

Nothing against Lee but I took a RockChucker in trade yrs ago and thats all I have.

  • ...dude, you are good. thank you very much.

  • Hey ammosmith. RCBS did change the design on the priming tool on the press. It is much simpler now without leaf springs and such but is the same concept. I've used it maybe one or twice.
