The Grand Avenue underpass in Franklin Park Illinois was completed and a celebratory ceremony was held on September 3, 2007.
American Legion Post 974 served as the color guard for the American Flag. The Leyden High School Marching Band and color guard was a welcome addition to the ceremonies.
A beautiful steam engine that looked as if it time traveled from an oil painting of the old west was provided by the Canadian Pacific Railroad.
Thousands of Franklin Park residents and visitors attended the ceremony.
A ribbon cutting opening the Grand Avenue corridor to East/West traffic was performed by Franklin Park's Mayor Daniel Pritchett.

I think my Uncle was the mayer at the time. Omar Pritchett is my Grandpa. Everytime I drive past the Pictures on the wall I see him and my grandma Helen. They Did a nice job building the underpass :)
