  • have to do this tomorrow for my blue belt :)

  • feo feo feooo... no me gusto :P

  • Who deigns to correct kata by Morio Higaonna? You sir need to be mindful of yourself and go study the history of the art in order to understand of whom you write. As head of the main system of Goju Ryu from which all of the other Ryu-ha have branched this man is the standard by which goju is measured. If you have an instructor your post must have been an embarrassment to him or her. The reason that I have never done kata video for my students is that there is nothing to add to the standard.

  • @kkorova not A master. THE master. If he does the kata differently, the kata just changes--he isn't incorrect.

  • Morio Higaonna, the epitome of a karate-ka, steeped in tradition and history, understanding of the way, resistant of western influence, totally focused on the karate of his teacher. His karate is magnificent yet he is criticized by the unknowing and unknowing is the operative word. Given the beckonings of the ignorant, karate would simply disappear into the oblivion of tournaments and ego driven athleticism. How about you, do you train in karate or corruption?

  • @azraelml For goodness sakes, how ignorant can you be? Karate is a means of self defense and kata are the backbone of the knowledge base. There is no perfection and it is not intended. There is ONLY knowledge of the system, Goju ryu, and training to the point that the system is understood which includes kata executed with bunkai knowledge rather than a "pick the fly crap out of pepper" focus. "Dazzling" technique satisfies the ignorant and egocentric, effective technique is the true goal.

  • @azraelml there is no such thing as 'good' or 'bad'; or 'wrong' or 'right' karate. There is only karate that works and karate that does not work. and this can very from individual to individual. if you think it doesn't work just pay higaonna sensei a visit. question solved.

  • @azraelml

Dear Sir, Higaonna Sensei IS the correct way. Just as adamrod8907 said. Sensei Higaonna is the one who evolves with the Goju Ryu Karate Do.

Even today the Goju Ryu is transforming.

I practice with the nacional chief instructor (my country's Chief Intructor, that is :D) from time to time and last month he introduced a few changes in one of the Katas, after beeing with Sensei Morio Higaonna in Japan.

    The Art is changing...

  • I'm from the Yuishinkan line

    the founder was Tomoharu Kisaki
