for the pure strength exercise, are you pulling off? or just hammering and releasing your fingers? or plucking the string while pulling off?

best way to build finger strength is to play on a cheap crappy acoustic with high action for a little bit each day at least

its an exorcise not the complete chromatic, if you threw in the opens it might sound better but no real fingerstrenght value

Maybe I am seeing and hearing this wrong, but in 1st position from the 6th string up you seem to be playing: F F# G G# | Bb B C C# | D# E F F# | G# A Bb B | C C# D Eb | F F# G G#

I must be off in my hearing. I hear four notes per string, no open strings, and a missed note on every string except the third string. When playing chromatically, you have to playing the next string a fret lower when ascending, or higher when descending.
