Pakistan Gears Up Against Taliban

The Pakistani military says troops have moved into a town, where they belive a Taliban leader is hiding.
Pakistani troops move into Matta literally hours after the government urged any civilians to flee the area. It comes as security forces prepare to battle Taliban militants in the valley.

"The nation and our army headquarters desires that minimum collateral damage must be ensured. So our strategy and design has been conceived that way."

The army launched an offensive more than a week ago to stop the influence of the Taliban in the region.




More than 1,000 militants have been killed in the offensive in Swat, according to the Interior Ministry Chief. The military has reported about 50 soldiers have been killed. But there is no independent confirmation for either toll so far.




A video released by the Pakistani army shows blindfolded men, that they say were being trained as Taliban militants, before they were arrested.

"I was offering evening prayers in the mosque. The Taliban came and took me away to their training centre. They told me: 'You have to fight against the soldiers. You have to definitely fight against the army. Get training for fighting against them. If you refuse to do the training, we will kill you.' So I said: 'I will do the training.' Then I did the training. Many men live in that training camp. 150 men are getting training there."

A military spokesman says the training camp was also being used as an ammunition dump and a logistics base for the Taliban.

According to the U.N., the number of people displaced by fighting in the former tourist valley has risen to almost 1.5 million.

no one know about osama i think my b he is in Europe because he has many faces ....when i 15 years i saw osama bin ladin in hospital rawalpindi he change his look and come in hospital for treatment ...me and my grand father saw him ....

influence of TALIBAN can be demolished... but influence of ISLAM cannot be controlled from spreading... Those who demand shariat will always be terrorist in the eyes of government because all they want is justice, and GOVERNMENTS cannot let that happen... JUSTICE will bring PEACE, and Equality, but our Government dont want that... Army is just a tool used by the Government... but ALLAH's Soldiers will rise! thats a promise of ALLAH!
