Boyhood friends to adult super stars -- Twofour showcases the incredible journey of Cornwall's Fisherman's Friends

"Ten slabs of prime Cornish beef, the Fisherman's Friends, all mates from school days, who don't wax their chests, or legs -- just occasionally their upper lips."

Welcome to the Twofour production, Fisherman's Friends, which is appearing on ITV1 on June 15 at 10.35pm.

A heart-warming story of a 'buoy' band with a collective age of 560 making the journey from shoal biz to show biz, the film is also an affectionate and rollicking tale of male friendships under pressure as Cornwall's now famous and hugely successful shanty group. The Fisherman's Friends find that beyond the glitz there is a price to be paid.

The programme is directed by twice BAFTA nominated, 2010 Grierson Award and BIFA winning producer and director David Pearson and executive produced by Twofour's Bridget Sneyd.

"All of us old mates close as a tin of pilchards, signed for a million pound record deal. Sounds like a dream come true? But some things aren't worth risking for any amount of money."

Jon Cleave, the band's deep bass vocal and the film's narrator speaks for them all as he begins the story of lifelong mates whose lives are turned upside down and friendships threatened when they become the unlikely hit musical sensation of the year.
The rollercoaster of emotions in this poignant and entertaining story of male friendship is captured beautifully by the award winning director.

David said: "Having the opportunity to work with Twofour and patiently follow these amazing and likeable guys as they experienced a great deal of change and stress in their lives was not only good fun, but a great privilege. I really admire the band, and their village of Port Isaac and we were all very grateful that they all allowed us in to capture such a closely observed account of a big year in their lives."

Bridget Sneyd, Senior Executive Producer, Twofour said: "As a Cornishwoman I was very keen that we should do justice to these hugely likeable men and in exploring the many ties of place and friendship that bind the group together David has succeeded wonderfully in portraying the full salty flavour that is Cornwall and The Fisherman's Friends."

Watch the programme on ITV1 on June 15, at 10.35pm.
