I understand: it's not like you're partners but that you're just "together" almost for the sake of just not being alone.
The only comment I can make is that it's a different story if you have kids. Coming from a family that broke up (while I was young) due to an infatuation with their own idea of what they "really wanted", I would argue to stay together for the kids. They might not hate you for splitting up, but they will always have contempt.
@SableUmbreon i dunno, sometimes the way two married people treat each other if they arent happy is a worse influence on the kids than if they went ahead and split up.
It's really a case of mind over emotion. For the most part, people are marrying at an age where they have acquired neither wisdom nor understanding of themselves. So how could a couple succeed when the individuals don't even comprehend the system of their own mind?
Foolish humans. So if these fools do procreate, the least they could do is put up an act (or, you know, give up their own vanity to be correct). Who am I kidding, most humans are pathetic creatures.
@SableUmbreon As a teenager currently living in a situation where I'm the only thing keeping my parents together, i can say that it would be a lot easier for everyone if they just split up. My dad's given up and my mom's trying to piece things together and i'm always unhappy when she's unhappy which has created this vicious cycle that's been going on since i was 8. There's just as much contempt from me because i'm the one stuck with two people that can't handle eachother 24/7.
And their conflicts are caused by their inability to transcend their own illusions to wisdom. They have an idea of "what things should be like/ what my spouse should be like" so if the world doesn't fit into their mental setup, they shut down and cannot operate.
It's like a computer that isn't designed for specific programs. The only problem here is that we have an advantage over computers... even though we're susceptible to believing that their own ideas are "right".
