Ohh they're so cute!
Wow the parents are really pretty...

Where did you get your information from? You should NEVER remove the father unless absolutely necessary. The father helps the mother look after the litter, and if you remove him it's very stressful on the mother. Also, reintroducing them afterwards can be difficult if they have spent weeks apart.

I left my male in the cage with all of my gerbils other gerbils too.. which is about 7 and now there were 4 babies but 2 of them got eaten and the other two are fine.. I dont know if its to much for her to handle with four babies.. but ive also noticed that the dad and kids watch out for the babies.. and help take care.. We I try looking in the cage they all stand in front of the babies.. like protecting I guess*

I thought the dad gerbil eats the babies? Hmmm lol I swear I read it somewhere :/

I wish i had a female and a male now

@psydragon22 Thats not always the case. I'm sure it's not impossible. Normally when people take the father out after the birth of the babies, it's because they can mate again a few hours after birth. My gerbils had their first litter about four day ago, & I have five healthy babies since the start. I think my gerbils are great parents, & I haven't caught daddy 'snacking.' If you provide your animals with food & a peaceful environment; they shouldn't be snacking their offspring. Kthanks(:

it actually ends up being more stressful on the mother having litter after litter of gerbils.. however, i do agree that the father should be left in for the first litter, to help with the babies. once the first litter is weaned, separate the males and the daddy and leave the females in to help with the second litter. that's what I did anyways, and mommy gerb seemed to be a lot more relaxed without having a male constantly chasing after her to mate..

If you take out the father and don't want any more babies, you'll end up with dozens of them. The mother can take care of them perfectly well on her own. If you leave the male in with her, then as soon as she's had the pups, she'll become pregnant again. If you want another gerb helping out a sister or one of the mother's last litter females can help.

no, the reason why you take the dad out is that the the mum can get pregnant again straight after birth and in the rare case he'll eat the babies.

Wtf...No offense to you, but did you know when gerbil babies are born you MUST remove the father??? The father gerbil will most likely eat the newborn babies if he is craving for something to eat. Does not happen all the time but you should be on the safe side. Otherwise...Its cute

Glad you liked it. Regarding paternal cannibalism, I think you may be confusing gerbils with alligators. This pair have produced six litters, and I have not caught the daddy snacking once. He is actually very caring towards the babies.
