This is not "The Winter and the Summer" but I see I'm not the first to notice. I heard that song in mid-1973 on BBC Radio 1 "In Concert" (one hour programme, with presenter Alan Black as compère). I recorded most of it on one side of a C-90 cassette on my brand new mono Sony cassette recorder & played it many times until our house burnt down in 1982. I loved this song & most of the others
Seen this lovely song played several times on the Classic Legends of Rock Tour (with Martin Turners Wishbone Ash and Focus). Dave Lambert's voice is still quite outstanding.and the song , quite beautiful,
Now I'm going to find that Sylvia clip by Focus. Same pretty guitar sound and timeless melody. Man, I'm in a good mood now....thanks so much for posting this clip.
Great clip--thanks, but...this isn't "The Winter and the Summer". This is "The Winter Long" from the the "Autumn" suite off Hero and Heroine. ("The Winter and the Summer" is a track from Bursting at the Seams.)
Got to see the threesome acoustic version a few years back. I was delighted and shocked to see they were actually doing a gig in the boonies of Maine! Sweet little place with excellent sound...Lambert wasn't letting his guitar out of his sight...during a break I saw him in the rest room with the guitar leaning against the wall beside him at the urinal! I was REALLY blown away when they did Simple Vision..Enjoyed the little stories between songs...
Best band ever? Maybe, one of them for sure...was at the show, amazing! Now all they need is a Tony Hooper suprise guest appearance and some I'll Carry on Beside You! Long live STRAWBS!!!
Stunning.
