Driving at near Rohtang top, "one of the highest" motorable roads in India.

The mountain top on the left is completely snow clad. Some of the snow melted and has covered a part of the road. If conditions turn adverse, there is a danger of a avalanche. On the right is the Pir Panjal range system of the southern Himalayas.

  • bhenji highest motorable road in india is KHARDUNG LA...also highest in the world

  • @djyrs Khardung La is *not* the highest motorable road in the world. Both SRTM and GPS data show that the height claimed by summit signs (stone) has been inflated and are plain wrong !

There are higher motorable passes at Suge La, west of Lhasa, 5,430 m (17,815 feet), and Semo La 5,565 m (18,258 feet), between Raka and Coqen in Central Tibet. This is also verified by GPS and SRTM data.
