"(Where Do I Begin?) Love Story" is a popular song published in 1970, with music by Francis Lai and lyrics by Carl Sigman. The song was first introduced as an instrumental theme in the 1970 film Love Story. The lyrics were added after the theme music became popular.
The song has been covered many times. Andy Williams recorded originally and made the biggest hit version reaching #9 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the adult contemporary chart for four weeks, in addition to #4 on the UK Singles Chart. The song was also recorded by Lai himself (U.S. #31) with a full orchestra, and by Henry Mancini (U.S. #13), Vikki Carr, Nino Tempo & April Stevens, Glen Campbell, Rick Astley, Johnny Mathis, José José, Astrud Gilberto, Shirley Bassey, Patricia Kaas, Nana Mouskouri, Paul Mauriat, Donald Braswell II, and Richard Clayderman. Williams performed the song with Miss Piggy in an episode of The Muppet Show. There is also a Romanian cover of this song, by Aurelian Andreescu, as well as a French one by Mireille Mathieu, and Korean remake by G.Fla.In the Philippines, it was used as a theme song for the movie "In the name of love", Gary Valenciano performed the cover.
Sergio Franchi recorded this song in his 1971 Metromedia album, Sergio Franchi.
Ray Conniff's version replaced the pronoun "she" (referring to Ali MacGraw's character in the film) with "you".
N.EX.T also covered this song in an instrumental version, in their album The Return of Next, Part 2.
Donald Braswell II recorded this song on his 2007 album New Chapter.
Australian singer Alfio recorded this song in 2008 for his album Classic Rewinds in tribute to Al Martino and 14 other Italian-American singers.
Barry Manilow recorded this song on his 2010 Album "The Greatest Love Songs of All Time". He performed this song live on the penultimate Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien.
Away Team remixed this song, and their version was featured in the Showtime TV series, The L Word in Season 2.
Filipino Pop Singer Gary Valenciano covered the song for the theme song of the movie In The Name Of Love released by Star Cinema in the Philippines in 2011.
