i got a new battery for my 88 4x4 s10 blazer and somehow it got out of charge is this cause of the alternator taking the power of it without using it ?

It probably is a bad alternator. Places like auto zone check them free in their parking lots, so you might just take advantage of that and get the alternator checked out. They do it on the car, just drive over to one. Scotty Kilmer
