This is the 30-second Pre-Title Teaser Trailer from the episode 'Sometimes You Gotta Sing the Blues' (#1.06).

Creator & Executive Producer Stephen J. Cannell contributes his 1st of 8 regular one-hour scripts he wrote for the entire series. For this 1st Season, he would write the episode 'Orange Blossom' and co-write the season finale, 'That Terrible Swift Sword', with departing Story Editor Tom Lazarus.

Director Kim Manners is the show's major connection to two of television's most successful horror dramas; "THE X-FILES" and "SUPERNATURAL". He directed and produced numerous episodes of each, and became an Executive Producer on both. Manners would travel to Canada, when the "STINGRAY" production was relocated there, to direct the Emmy-nominated (for Outstanding Sound Editing) episode 'Gemini' (#2.02).

Guest star Kurtwood Smith is better known as sadistic gangster Clarence Boddicker in the classic science-fiction action thriller "RoboCop", released the following year in 1987. This is the second and last connection between "STINGRAY" and that movie; the first being Smith's co-star Ray Wise, who guest-starred two episodes earlier, in 'Ether' (#1.04). To television audiences though, he's best known through two FOX shows; "That 70's Show" as father Red Forman, and on "24", as Senator Blaine Mayer, of which his "RoboCop" co-star Ray Wise also guest-starred in, two seasons prior.

Additionally, this episode marks the second of three connections between "STINGRAY" and "24". The third would be Gregg Henry, who guest-starred in the 2nd Seasons of both series'. For "STINGRAY", it's the episode 'Bring Me the Hand that Hit Me', and for "24", it's the four episodes that take place between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m.

Finally, this was the 1st episode to feature recurring character Chief Nelson Riskin, played by actor James Handy. He would return in the following episode 'Abnormal Psych' (#1.07) and the 2nd Season hour 'Blood Money' (#2.12).

"STINGRAY" was an action/crime drama/detective series, that ran from 1985 to 1987, on NBC in the United States, then later in the UK on the leading satellite and cable channel SKY One. The show starred Nick Mancuso (of "Under Siege" and "Under Siege 2: Dark Territory" fame), and was created by Stephen J. Cannell (of "The A-Team" and "The Rockford Files").
