  • i have a question about these dogs patterdales some seems to look abit liek stafs with the hard looking faces and lots of mussle and some seem to look alot like border terriers with alot of fluff and beards ?. Been looking at a few dogs to buy and patterdale and border terriers have come up. bt pictures seem to show that the same dog can be totally diffeerent 1 looking like a staffy and others more lyk a yorkshire or border terrier

  • @Tahbebz ; They come in both short hair and long hair (or a mix of both). They come originally from England as small game hunting dogs, thus the muscle and crazy drive.

  • How much does your dog weigh now? I ask because my patterdale weighs around 23 pounds full grown. He is lean and muscular and not handspanable around the chest. I keep reading that patterdales should be about 15 pounds and hand spanable around the chest. Is my dog a mutant American bred dog?

  • @BrattyCA - He is now a little over 2 years old and is weighing around 25 pounds. I'll post another video soon so you can have a look. What breeder did you get your patty from? I got Tron from lost lake farms in florida. I watched your video - hes full of tricks lol.

  • Yeah Don, its also very good idea to train him while hes alerted and wanting to go after something. So when the time comes you can control him when he really wants to take off after something you dont want him to.

  • Getting him worked up is a perfect way to make sure you can control your dog once he gets excited. When you are hunting and the dog gets excited, you want to make sure he will still listen.
