  • Pretty easy chains to install. However, try installing a set of chains when you have an air temp of 40 below zero! I have done it and it isn't easy!

  • @kc8ntp I doubt anything is easy at 40 below. Hope they worked well regardless.

  • Bill Burke uses these in his offroad videos-Land Rover defender. I'm curious about their strength. considering a set of four for offroad snow runs.

  • They are pretty thick chains. I had one guy last year that bought two sets and used them plowing the roads for much of the season. They held up pretty good.

  • @Supertramp678 Yes, that is very true, lol. I am going to get a set of these though to carry in my Jeep. Yeah, my Jeep XJ does better than most 4X4s (rear limited slip and front locker), but I go over mountain passes that could have 3ft of snow on them without any notice; not to mention, I am not one to get cocky when I can be 4+ hours from help. My house sits at 7100' above sea level in Nevada, so it can happen in my driveway, too. The RUDs look like an easier option to the old-school chains.

  • i have these same chains for my volvo they work insane..but i always drive about 20 feet and yank them tight again, just to make sure

  • Little easier when the tire's super bald.

  • that's why you practice & familiarize yourself when the weather is nice. Learning to install them on the spot when you really need them isn't fun.

  • Great, now try mounting those chains with yor truck/car stuck in a feet of snow...

  • You got to take into consideration that this is a "truck" and has "tons of wheel well space"....my oldsmobile passenger car has almost zero space to manuver your hands around in. So far the easiest chain type devices i have used are light weight traction cables but again are not really easy to install....just easier than others i have tried. If I could just find an adhesive that would bond hard rubber grommits to a tire it would be great...i'm still working on it LOL
