most people haven't even heard about the kinds of ideas that you and others are talking about so when you say we are closer to transformation aren't you forgetting that there are so many people pulling in contradictory directions?

I don't think this has much to do with ideas. And it isn't new. It is very old, older than capitalism, older than America, older than civilization itself. It is more a feeling, or perhaps an attractor which we have strayed from but are coming back into collective alignment with. I imagine humanity is currently like a group of birds scattered randomly across the ground looking for food, but in a flash will take flight, becoming a single body with a unified aim.

Love Esalen and will be there in March 09 for the Gangaji retreat. Yes, synchronicities abound there, as well as distortions in time. Esalen feels like a "preview" of the unfolding (awakening) of human consciousness.

Everyones attention here is so scattered, their energy is scattered. Communicating and being with people who are so grounded in the moment will change you. Maybe the words in the book didn't matter so much because you were able to experience something so much better with people who have a focused intention of living consciously (dont mind my spelling). and you were able to realise that it CAN be that easy.

I imagine you had a very raw human experience. An experience with people who were very aware and in the moment, those that you don't encounter much.. say, here in the bay area.

...medication for it - so the way that my anxiety was bypassed in that moment was interesting to me I guess it was the element of surprise that prevented me from putting my guard up or worrying. I wonder if it would be possible to relate like that all the time - without any friction? Maybe learning to do so would be what people call 'spiritual.'

I recall siting on on underground/subway train once and the woman sitting next to me asked me how to get to the station that she was traveling to. She didn't turn her head and she spoke in a very natural voice as if she was thinking rather than speaking. I answered immediately and I also felt like I was thinking rather than speaking. So it was as though we weren't speaking to each other so much as thinking to each other. I'm very anxious around people - anxious to the degree that I've taken...

...have a few relatively 'enlightened' people around and you have a chance of being one of them - if you have the confidence to breakaway from the majority then you have a chance of seeking out the pockets of 'enlightenment' that exist.
