Go to http://eatingthaifood.com/ for lots more Thai street food!

This special Christmas 2011 episode of Bangkok street food is an introduction of Thai khanom jeen rice noodles topped with coconut curry sauce and raw vegetables.

It's one of my many favorite Thai breakfast dishes!

Khanom jeen are Thai rice vermicelli noodles that are lightly fermented so they remain soft and silky.

They are best eaten with a few scoops of spicy coconut fish curry known as "nam ya kati" and eaten along with freshly chopped bean sprouts, cucumber, string beans, cabbage, and a few herbs and dried chillies!

Enjoy and Merry Christmas and Happy New Years 2011!

  • Nice video. Most of my travels to Bangkok, i've based myself in Sukhumvit.. paying 100baht per meal streetfood.. "Farang price" lol

Where do you recommend i can base myself next time, where i can have a nice variety of differeny meals when i walk outside?? I'm thinking victory monument at the moment. Will be nice to get away from tourists.

  • @wank0r Hey, thanks for stopping by and watching. Victory Monument is a great idea, there's a great selection of street food and it's a very central location with transportation to get anywhere. Also Bangrak (Saphan Taksin) is a good area of town... but I'd say Vic Monument is one of the best.

  • Looks and sounds awesome. I miss the putt-putt sound of BKK traffic.

  • @LostandFoundTravel Thanks! Yah, Bangkok is an all out thrilling city!

  • khanom jeen nam ya is delicious!

  • Monks are not suppose to sit and wait for offer food

  • @migrationology 10 chillies, good going for you :) I recently got some Red Curry Paste and added some chicken for the curry. Yum yum! Gaeng Som sounds hot and very inviting.

  • @TheStarsprinkles I'd say some of the southern Thai dishes like southern Gaeng Som - and hot and sour fish soup (different from Bangkok style Gaeng Som). Also depending on how you order your som tam (green papaya) salad, you can get it with as many chillies as you desire. I normally ask for around 10 chillies.

  • @TheStarsprinkles Tom Yam Kung is one of them. >.<
