Describing the new annual $100,000 Curry Stone prize for humanitarian design, David Mohney talks about why design is important to solving some of the world's most pressing problems. And he makes one big connection. If we live in an increasingly visual society, designers occupy a place of privilege not unlike the writers and mathematicians who followed the invention of the Gutenberg press.
The Curry Stone Prize was awarded for the first time in September, 2008 at the IdeaFestival.
Mohney is the Dean Emeritus, College of Design Professor, School of Architecture at UK.
