Here's some very rare footage of a relatively young Higa Yuchoku performing Matsumura's Passai at his old Tsuboya Dojo in Naha as he learned directly from Chibana Choshin.

Fantastic video! I studied at the Kyudokan which is still in Tsuboya under Higa Minoru. Just great to see this form done by Yuchoku Sensei - its still how we all practice it today.

Thank you for posting this excellent testimony of this traditional Karate Do Kata, by one of the great Senseis of Okinawa. I practice Shidokan of Miyahira lineage, and this version is almost exactly the same we practice. This is no surprise, since both Senseis studied under Chibana Chosin Sensei, who is said to have been praised for his performance of this Kata.
