Andy Lau is Yip Koo-Sing (called Cool Son Yeh in the subtitles), master of the Heavenly Flying Fairy Stance. He wishes to have a duel with dour swordsman Sai Mun Chiu Suet (Ekin Cheng, called Simon the Snow Blower in the subs). The buzz surrounding their duel causes a flury of excitement, and the Emperor (Patrick Tam) issues 8 gold medals that allow the bearer passage to the Forbidden City when the Duel takes place.
In charge of distributing the medals is Luk Siu-Fung AKA Dragon 9, given screen life by ubiquitous funnyman Nick Cheung. However, things get difficult when a bunch of murders turn up and Simon is fingered as the guilty party. Aiding him in his investigation is Mainland sensation Vicki Zhao as Princess Phoenix,who handles all the giggly comedy relief as well as the role of Yip Koo-Sing's love-interest. And then things get wackier.

please, people. in this movie andy is the bad guy. he try to be the emperor. althought he's cool and hot in this movie, but he is the bad one. and even thought he is the bad one, he always play as a cool and hot bad guy. thats the andy lau style.

Damnnn the duel is the fight of the millenium.

Ancient duels they use swords , not guns.

for those who don't understand, the story is about 2 swordsmen who arrange to duel atop the forbidden city. unknown to all, andy's character is using the duel to create a diversion that will allow him to usurp the throne. having been discovered and his plan foiled, he asks the emperor to allow him to continue to fight anyway, as he would rather die by the blade of another master swordsman, than be executed for treason...

well well, then maybe so. but, no one cause its just a story. also since they put andy into this role. its meant to be a andy lau style's cool and hot bad guy. its always like that.

bad guy is a very subjective thing to say. maybe he will be a better emperor. Rebellion is common in those days (although this is fake). It is sometimes hard to say who should have the sovereignty to be the emperor
