In a departure from our normal type of content, PressPassTV.com's Michael Artsis explains the ending to the Sopranos. He has watched the show from the begining and has studied mob history. This is his theory and in no way reflects the opinons of presspasstv.com (especially Dan's).

At PressPassTV.com, we bring you the best behind the scenes sports coverage. We introduce you to the athletes you root for and bring you into their world as we showi you who they are and they're like, away from the game.

  • I dont think its made to have an explanation. The people who watch the sopranos arent harvard grads dicecting the ending, like a painting. People that have watched the show season after season.Know those cut away shots mean someones gettin whacked.the title alone made in america. And the trucker guy wearing an american cap.the daughter parking her car.the song. I think we all make the ending how we want to make it. Nobody wanted tony to die at the end.So im sure the writers said the hell with it.

  • Tony dies at the end. Remember the scene with Bobby on the boat when they were talking about what it would be like to die? It would be quick and then darkness. Also Tony's mum's advice to AJ was emphasized about how life was all a big nothing.

  • If you are in to substance who cares about what other people like or dislike...

I agree with this...especially the part about the agent tipping off Tony. I would go further. The agent does not only lose the purpose of his life if Tony gets hit. He loses himself as he understands himself.

It is a matter of identity.

He not only HAS a purpose...

He IS a man who has a purpose....

The identity of being someone who's after Tony...

...in other words: If Tony gets wacked, the agent loses himself

  • Even though this video is 30% disliked? I actually kinda agree with the guy who stated about Tony's conclusion.

  • its a black screen, stop over thinking it!! he literally put the black screen and said "fuck it, heres nothing, interpret it how you will"

  • @Taylorslade123 ....as he has said himself, David Chase did not want to "spoon feed the longtime viewers who appreciated the show for how I intended it to be, by having a final shot of Tony Soprano face down in a bowl of onion rings with a bullet in his head".

  • @Taylorslade123 ....at the end of the day, this was a fantastic ending, and one that was true to the show. The writing of the show was of a exceptionally high standard from the very beginning, especially the Psychotherapy scenes and dynamics with Dr. Melfi, which is something that the long time fans appreciated, and for the superficial viewers wanting a quick thrill, there was the violence, who are mostly the people claiming the ending was a "cop out".

  • @Taylorslade123 ....Not only was there numerous hints and referances about "what the end would be like" , through all of the seasons of the show, there was also another issue which kept bubbling under the surface ever since the start of the show in season 1. Back onto the abrupt ending of the finale....think back to how many times Tony (heavily influenced by his mother) would use the phrase "It's all black" and "It's all a big nothing". I could go on, but pointing out ignorance is pointles here.

  • @Taylorslade123 ...."It's all there, for anybody who wants to see it." Furthermore, the line from Soprano Home Movies where Bobby says "You probably won't even hear it when it happens", was repeated a couple of times not only in the show itself, but also during the teaser commercial for the final episode. You are the one who obviously wasn't "paying attention". Because you missed all this, then you will no doubt missed the remaining reasons why Tony would be killed even though a "truce" was made

  • @Taylorslade123 ....David Chase said " Everything that pertains to that episode was in that episode. And it was in the episode before that and the one before that and seasons before this one and so on. There had been indications of what the end is like. Remember when Gerry Torciano was killed? Silvio was not aware that the gun had been fired until after Gerry was on his way down to the floor. That's the way things happen: It's already going on by the time you even notice it. "....

  • @ the uploader. For starters, you are wrong on many things, but mainly when you state that the Mafia do not go to outsiders to carry out hits, which is total BS, but seeings as we are talking about The Sopranos TV show, I'd like to remind you that this was done on several occasions during the show. I find it hilarious that you say "you guys aren't paying attention"...when in fact it is you who seem to have missed various hints in the last few episodes alone....
