Several months ago, WCSH 6 (a local television station here in Portland Maine) contacted Jeff Letellier's Mom (Kendra) to ask if she would like to help film a Public Service Announcement for their "Get Out Alive" Teen Driving Series which is part of their "Teen-Parent Driving Challenge" PSA's that are sponsored by the Maine Department of Transportation, Maine Bureau of Highway Safety, and AAA of Northern New England. This is a series that has been shown on their station for the last year, and will continue for at least the next year. She had said most definitely !!

On March 10, 2008, WCSH met with Kendra and myself to interview her and film the PSA.

She had wanted this for a long time since Jeff was killed in a car crash three years ago, but was still amazed after two years how hard it was to do and talk about Jeff in such detail for the PSA. I have to say, she did an excellent job, even with all the emotions and tears she held back while describing and telling about Jeff and the car crash. She felt like nothing she said came out the way she wanted it to, but she is so glad she had the opportunity to do it.

With the video we have done and the time that has passed since we lost Jeff, she expected it to be a lot easier then it was - but it never will because Jeff was, and still is, loved and missed by so many people he had touched with his love, thoughtfulness and caring.

With all the work I / we have done towards Jeff's cause, she really wanted me there to help her through the interview, and I didn't need to be there... she did one heck of a job.

The two gentlemen that conducted the PSA took the time to watch our latest version of Jeff's video and was really impressed. They took a copy with them to pass along at the television station and said they would see what other outlets they could pass our cause on to. These were the doors we were hoping to open up with all our efforts.

Within the next few months, we hope to have the final cut of Jeff's video done... this will be the version we hope to get into the schools and driver's education classes to educate our teen drivers and their parents about the epidemic we have on our roads and highways.

The current version of Jeff's video has over 69,600 hits here on YouTube! We are sooo pleased with all the comments and encouragement we have received from and because of the video from people here on Youtube and people that have contacted us from all over the world via our email.

This 1 minute PSA video is the result of WCSH interviewing and filming Kendra during their 1 1/2 hour visit with her talking about teen related driving problems, teen crashes, and Jeff's crash.

If you are wondering who Jeff Letellier is - we have 2 videos telling about him and what happened.
You can see them here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdE43C41eBo / http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7W-sCJOuJWo

If you care about a teen driver, if your boyfriend or girlfriend is a teen driver, if you are a parent of a teen driver or if you are just concerned about our teen drivers, we strongly urge you to take the time to watch these 2 videos.

  • keep up the good work I have been down this road before too, first my nephew in 1999 and now my own teenage son in August last year.

  • Yellaboi567.. The one thing you need to realize is that your life is worth so much- it is worth speaking up or calling your parents and putting yourself through the questioning. If you are killed because of someone's bad choice, you dont get to go back and decide it's worth speaking up and/or calling a parent. Your life is over. Please do not put your parents through what we have been through. Be strong! You will make us all proud! Thanks for watching the commercial.
