I'm a Civil War reenactor and I've been told that our battalion was asked to participate this summer in a mini-series for HBO based on this book. The plan is that this mini-series will be like Band of Brother and The Pacific and will be directed by Steven Spielberg. I hope I will be able to participate in it!

First let me say that I lost my dad Christmas Eve of 2009 to a heart attack. This video will have a special place in my heart forever because my dad is in it. At 39 to 40 secs into it. He is the man with the white beard standing in the middle of the three men in the scene. If you have ever watched the movie Gettysburg that clip is from chapter 18 on the dvd.

This is pathetic. and why does the rating screen say refer to an R rating fro Strong Sexuality and Nudity? If anyone directs this it should be Ed Zwick.

With Sheen or Duvall as Lee, Barry Pepper as Chamberlain, Ewan McGregor as Stuart and Josh Brolin as Longstreet, Aiden Quinn as Grant and Ed Harris as Sherman. No long damn monologues. Joaquin Phoenix as Booth, Liam Neeson as Lincoln. this could be a good movie if done right.

Use reenactors but also the Massive Program for big battles

@loveyou3469 sorry for your loss, He was one of the prisoners who spoke with Tom Chamberlain?(in the film) A memorable scene from the film and the book. Even though your father had no lines, his expression spoke volumes. He did a great job. It's hard for inexperienced actors to not "overact" but when you just stand there defiantly, it is good acting.

@CambaLopez no, it is not true. Turner will not support Ron Maxwell on any new venture. If this is made it would have to be totally new. It should be made, the question is, who owns the rights? Dreamworks (spielberg ) is making "Lincoln" If this is made it should be Clint Eastwood (Flags of our Fathers) or Ed Zwick(Glory)

Just keep it away from the Brothers' Scott (Ridley and Tony)

The book was really well done, he had good insight into the thoughts of Lee and Grant. The trilogy needs to be filled out to complete the full story. Yes shame on the video maker for mocking what so many men died for. A miniseries done by Spielberg would be awesome although I doubt it is getting made. Battle of the wilderness and cold harbor would be the two they should include since you can't fit every battle in a 2 1/2 hour movie.
