  • i'm 12 and i have it..last time wen my doctor checked it was in may but it was only 10 degrees...but i think it got worse, its actually hurting badly right now :(..but im afraid to see a doctor

You should have your parents take you in for a follow up with your doctor. Often times conservative treatment is very effective and should help with your pain. Best of luck to you.

  • 1 in 10? .... Try something more like "3 in 100"...

  • @SpiderWick12

Where do you get your information? If this estimate is current and correct, I would love to have the resource so I can correct what info I give my patients. Thank you.

  • Hi everybody

    Hi Dr. Nick

  • my nurse said it was 1 in 40 kids..

  • @Scoliosisgirl96 Close enough... although I don't quite remember if my source was reliable...

  • @SpiderWick12 3 to 4 people in every 100 get it

  • @DanCanAsian Hi, I am a scoliosis girl, I had scoliosis my self and my advice to you would be that you take your child to be assesed to see how big the curvature is, depending on the curvature there mayy be options such as bracing, or surgery or physiotherapy.

  • This video is a good video to help parents spot for Scoliosis. I had scoliosis and I got diagnosed late when my curvature was 48.3 and progressed to 70. From my first xray I had no choice but surgery, and watching this video will help parents to spot for scoliosis and hopefully get early diaganosage. I am now a year post op but my bottom curve or where the rods are can still curve but I am hoping they aren't

Once again, this video is useful for parents to spot for scoliosis and explains it well

  • If one does find Scoliosis (whether it is structural or functional) in a child what should/does one do?

Should they be taken to a doctor for further assessments?

Can it be corrected just by specific strengthening and stretching exercises? Or only corrected by operation.

    Eagerly awaiting your response,

    -DCA

  • Im sorry but can someone please explain what he meant with cheeks?? Or something like that.... How can you see it from someone's face???:s

  • @msvalentine1991 Maybe because he was developing a speech. It's sort of the same thing when you do a presentation at school with note cards.

  • DR, i need ur help , a very close member of my family, she is 57, had a surgery (scoliosis) , the first surgery didnt go good, so she had an emergency one , the second went ok , that is what the dr said, but after 3 weeks, she cant walk , she can feel if someone touch her on the leg , and has unvoluntary movement on her toes , but she just cant move her legs and of course she cant walk. the dr doesnt know what to say and he doesnt know if she will walk again, any idea? posible reasons?? thanks!!
