The Hunger Games will be even bigger when it reaches the box office. We have the details next.

Hey fellow movie fans, Amanda Janner here for Clevver Movies with news of The Hunger Games book trilogy expanding into a four-part movie series. Lionsgate has high hopes for the series -- and for good reason. Deadline reports that COO Joe Drake said the film was the highest-selling film the studio has ever had at the Cannes Film Festival and that overseas exhibitors are calling it "the movie that can change their company."

Lionsgate says it bought the rights to the film series before the books hit it big as bestsellers. The hit series by Suzanne Collins is comprised of three titles: The Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mockingjay. Since the film series will include four installments, how do you think the novels will be split? The first film will be released March 23, 2012 and shares the title of first novel -The Hunger Games. But how will the second two books be made into three additional films? It's possible the last book will be split into two parts like Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. theyre obviously going to split the finale. that trend has caught on with harry potter and i find it ridiculous. that novel needed to films to itself, look at the lenght.

the hunger games novels are not long enough to be split, its a way for the movie producers and actors to make more money

I think they should split Catching Fire because it's the longest one (even if by just a couple pages). And it's my favorite one :)
