Well said, people criticize Vai for his use of effects but it's actually really hard to use them tastefully and efficiently. I saw a video of a song that Vai recorded 20 years ago off of Passion where he played it note for note and with all the fury and perfection as from the day he wrote it. He is more than an effects player, he is technically amazing as well. Even his stuff with Roth and Whitesnake was equally amazing, made them better bands!

@Totofan09 dude calm down i made that comment 2 years ago i realized that theory was wrong i know everybody plays with feelings and emotion its just that some people really show their emotion while others try to hide it but if you look close enough to MAB you can see he is digging the beat and enjoys what he is doing

Steve Vai...Playing the same 3 licks on every backing track sometimes can be boring. But, hey, he's Steve Vai, he can do whatever he wants...Truly badass solo :D Love that progressions....But I'd like to hear something different sometimes :(

well of course you're right. he would be a machine if he had no feelings.

but.. the level of his expression of the feelings he got while he's playing is nothing compared to steve...

there's a another point: most of MAB's solos end up with 3 notes forward and backwards by using hammerings and pull offs. the difference between him and steve is clearly shown in this video. steve is much more creative. creativity is a way to show your feelings. MAB doesn't show any creativity

I think that Micheal has feeling, I think that all musicians posses feeling (Notice I wrote musicians) I mean his songs have all come from some part of his mind which would have been influenced by how he was feeling at that time, his emotions would pass on to his playing. That is how I think, sometimes you need to see past the music to understand the complexity gone in to creating it and the emotional diversity between the songs, anger is a feeling to!
