Hey guys. I just bought a new HD camcorder (SONY HDR-XR500V) to replace my HDR-HC7 (absolutely love it btw!) And this is a low light side by side test of the two in various conditions. The low light video quality of the XR500V is far superior to the HDR-HC7. The HDR-XR500V has SONY's brand new EXMOR R (G series) chip, which is a back lit CMOS censor that is supposed to pick up literally twice the amount of light as their previous CMOS chip. From the video I have taken so far this seems to be spot on, the colors are crisp and grain is very very minimal if hardly any at all.
Note: Both are set in auto mode. STD mode in the 500V is the auto mode*
