1) If the government took "half our cake", there would be a revolt.
2) The public option is not an option. The addition of the proposed reforms, and implementation of minimum coverage are so expensive that they will by necessity dictate all plans provide only the minimum just to remain competitive.
Do not delude yourself, the proposal on the table is not a public option, but universal health care. All plans will look the same, and the cheapest will be the one that is subsidized.
