ANTONIO VIVALDI (1678-1741)

Concerto "a 10 strumenti" for violin, 2 corni da caccia, timpani, 3 oboes, strings and basso continuo in D Major RV 562a

II. Grave

III. Allegro

Performed by Europa Galante
Directed by Fabio Biondi

*This concerto is Vivaldi's revised version of RV 562 "fatto per la Solennita della S Lingua di S Antonio in Padua". It was intended for the celebrations marking the centenary of the Stadsschouwburg Theatre in Amsterdam. Compared to the original version, Vivaldi added a timpani, modified the oboe parts in the outer movements and replaced the slow violin cadenza movement with a simpler cantilena.
