Scientology just isn't old enough to have obscured its origins yet. It also hasn't gotten down all the finer points of brainwashing, and isn't as smooth or self-regulating as the older ones.

Here's the thing: Other religions have been around for thousands of years. Nobody really knows about their origins, or who wrote them. Even though they're crazy, they don't KNOW they're crazy. Scientology, on the other hand, is ~50 years old, and was created by a science fiction writer, who at one point even stated that the best way to make money was to create a religion. If you don't KNOW that is crazy, then you are stupid. But, whatever. Waste your time however you want.
