PhotoWorks is dead, Long live PhotoView! PhotoView 360 is now fully integrated into SolidWorks 2011. The easy to use, powerful replacement for PhotoWorks brings fantastic rendering back inside the SolidWorks interface. Whether you have not used any rendering software before, or you are an expert, you will find all the control you could want.

Also, you can use PhotoView to produce rendered animations and walkthroughs!

Some really useful enhancements to SolidWorks standard too, being able to edit appearances more easily and add decals.

  • Excellent video. Any tips on how you made the rendered animation at the very end of this video please?

  • @kuohu the animation was done in SolidWorks using a camera view, when you have photoview added in when you go to save an animation, you get the option to render it. I will do a video on animations in SolidWorks very soon for you!

  • Yes, same question. The scene is not shown except in rendering window. how to fix?

  • @SolidSolutionsManLtd

    Excellent work.

I'm just trying this new 2012 solidworks (i was using the 2009 edition) and I can't configure it to see the model with real brights and shadows as seen in your model (without rendering). My models are shown as basic solids without textures (eventhough I assign them textures from the appearances panel. E.g. I choose chrome and my model is just gray without reflections, even modifying the reflection values). Please let me know how you do this. Thanks!
