Bird also leads MJ in stats, MJ only leads Bird in ppg and steals per game, Bird leads MJ in rebounding, assists, ft%, 3pt%, blocks per game, so don't bring that weak stats shit in here, Bird is the most complete player ever.

@MerkinMuffly Celtics sweeping the Bulls in Jordan's SECOND and THIRD seasons isn't even a relevant point. The 86 Bulls were a 52 loss team playing one of the greatest Celtic teams in history. But Jordan STILL dropped 63 and Bird himself called MJ godlike. Remember this was his sophomore season. Early playoff failures ultimately don't mean shit. Young MJ got his ass kicked by the Pistons for a few seasons, but you never hear anyone including Isiah Thomas in the "GOAT" conversation.

Secondly, if you really want to bring up the opinion of the "people whose opinions count", there's not even a question that Jordan's the consensus pick of probably 98% of all HOFers and basketball pundits. Even Magic, Bird's greatest rival, admitted Jordan was on a different level from anyone else. I think his opinion counts a little more than yours, considering he actually played both of them.

@MerkinMuffly In fairness, MJ did win the Rookie of the Year, lead his team in scoring, rebounds, steals and blocks and scored the most points in the NBA as a 21-year old.

@MerkinMuffly Also, saying that Bird beat Jordan 23-11 really doesn't mean anything because it was the Celtics vs. the Bulls, not Bird vs. Jordan. That would be like someone saying that Michael Jordan scored 49 and 63 points on Larry Bird in consecutive playoff games.

@MerkinMuffly When Bird was still playing for the Celtics, the Bulls sucked and when the Bulls dominated the Celtics sucked and Bird was retired. Bird was a great player, one of the best all time. I just looked up their stats. MJ leads Bird in FG%, points, steals and turnovers (fewer per game). Bird was a forward and MJ was a guard, so you would expect the forward to average more rebounds (Bird 10, MJ 6) and blocks (Bird .8, MJ .8).
