Grandpa's Spells- Rod Mason 1987

Rod Mason's Hot Five on German TV in 1987.

Rod uses excellent German musicians. Then the only other Brit is Ray Smith on piano, who for many years was the pianist of Ken Colyer's Jazzmen
A number of weeks ago my new internet friend and banjoist Englishman Sean Moyes told me he lives Germany and is now a member of Rod Mason's Hot Five.
It is for that reason I post another few tunes of Rod's excellent band. To think that this was recorded almost 20 years ago.
When I met Rod in 1983 he was a member of the Dutch Swing College Band. The band came to Canada and we did a concert night with the two bands, the DSC and our Climax Jazz Band. I remember the tremendous fun we had when Rod came to sit in with our band.
