July 16 Anderson Cooper aired our submission for the CNN/YouTube debate on his nightly CNN program and explained the outdated reason that we vote on Tuesdays!

Stupid people should just stay home and not vote.
Low voter turnout may not be a bad thing if all some voters do is vote for one race, and then Christmas-tree the rest of the ballot.

The American political system is fixed, not broken. There is no difference between the Democrats and Republicans. It's like choosing between Pepsi and Coke..you've been conned, and that's why most people don't vote.

The date was set in 1845 and it made sense then, it no longer makes sense so lets change it to Saturday!

Obviously this reasoning is from the past and it must be changed. Either we vote on Saturdays (most working class /middle class people WILL vote) or the voting day should be a national holiday! Yeah your employers say they give you time off, but what a few hours?! You have to stand in line that long. Come on, we honor our Presidents by (some of us) getting the day off shouldn't the PEOPLE get a day off to VOTE?!

We keep it on Tuesday because the majority of American's are working one of their two jobs during the day in the middle of the week. It helps keep voter turn out low so they can control it better.
If they changed it to Saturday they would get better response I think. Better yet, Set it up for a couple days. To give everyone a chance.

absolutely agree with you! Good idea. have 1 voting day on a Friday and one on a saturday. That way 1 is during the week and one is on a weekend. Everyone would have a better chance.
