I'm not enabling anything. Not like it matters, but it was one boyfriend who essentially abandoned her and refuses to pay child support. She is trying to get out. It's just extremely difficult, and every time it looks like it might happen, something comes out of left field to set those plans back.

Well, Life is a journey its not a guided tour. Why does your friend have 5 kids and no husband and how many fathers are involved? We all make our own beds, but where there is a will there is a way. Your friend can either sit back and watch her kids get killed by violence or follow the people from her area who have figured out a plan and executed it for execuses. I once was homeless and overcame it through hard work. Your just enabling your friend with sorry execuses. time to man up.

You make it sound like everyone has the means in order to move.

My coworker with five kids is currently trying to move out of the projects. There is no spouse/boyfriend around to help her, she doesn't have a car, and most other places in the city within her price range are just as shitty. Housing within her price range in relatively decent neighborhoods are too far from her workplace, meaning she'd also have to find a new job near this potential new place. All that on less than $250/week.

This is a true story and this movie was pretty good, but there was a scene in the movie where the lead character is complaining to her mother that the cops have been raiding her housing project since she was a child. That right there is the problem in the black community, most people after raid number one would have been gone, no matter the sacrifice. Ive been in that situation and did just that. I have no sympathy for people that continue to live in drug and violent areas.
