Antonio Pappano - Tchaikovsky: Fantasies and Overtures

Recorded in concerts at Sala Santa Cecilia, Auditorium Parco della Musica, Rome, this album contains a collection of some of the most beautiful and well known music composed by Tchaikovsky. The 1812 Overture" is arguably Tchaikovskys best known piece and this recording features the rarely recorded original version with chorus together with a 36 piece military band (Banda Musicale della Polizia di Stato.) Shakespeare (Romeo & Juliet), the Battle of Borodino (1812 Overture) and Dante (Francesca Da Rimini) were the sources for three of Tchaikovsky's most popular orchestral works recorded here.
