Lord Christopher Monckton, former Science Advisor to the Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, argues that President Obama will sign the Copenhagen Treaty at the December 7th-18th, 2009 meeting of the United Nations Climate Change Conference without seeking a two-thirds ratification of the treaty by the Senate, or any other type of Congressional approval.

Moncton is a well-known critic of the theory of anthropogenic (man-made) causes for global warming who has argued repeatedly that global warming hysteria is an ideological position of the political Left advanced in the interest of imposing global taxes on the United States in the pursuit of international control of the U.S. economy under a one-world government to be administered by the UN.

Lord Monckton has repeatedly challenged Al Gore to a debate to which Gore has refused. Monckton sued to stop Gores film An Inconvenient Truth from being shown in British schools due to its inaccuracies. The judge found in-favor of Monckton, ordering 9 serious errors in the film to be corrected. Lord Monckton travels internationally in an attempt to educating the public about the myth of global warming.

There has been considerable debate about Moncktons statement that the Copenhagen Treaty would cede US sovereignty to a world government. His comment was based upon his interpretation of the The Supremacy Clause in the US Constitution (Article VI, paragraph 2). This clause establishes the Constitution, Federal Statutes, and U.S. TREATIES as the supreme law of the land. Concerns have been raised in the past that a particularly ambitious treaty may supersede the US Constitution. In the 1950s, a constitutional amendment, known as the Bricker Amendment, was proposed in response to such fears, but it failed to pass.

I think you need to look into the subject much more deeply. Treaties that we sign become "The Law of the Land" along side the Constitution. This is NOT rhetoric.

To categorize CO2 as a pollutant is not much different than calling O2 a pollutant. It is absurd. And its connection to "global warming" is at best conjecture.

Why do you need to sign an international treaty to be responsible?? Are you kidding me? As if people are hell-bent on destroying the Earth. Ridiculous.

If you ask me you have just assigned yourself the RESPONSIBILITY of ACTING to educate yourself as to the possible consequences of this treaty.

And by the way, to subjugate the authority of Congress or the Constitution to an outside authority (the UN) is by DEFINITION a loss of sovereignty.
