One of the most significant pieces of architecture in Brno is the Villa Tugendhat, one of only a handful of modern structures to be listed by UNESCO. The Villa Tugendhat, a unique piece of modern architecture, was built in 19291930 in Brnos Černá Pole District for Greta and Fritz Tugendhat. The project was entrusted to one of the most eminent architects in Europe at the time, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.

  • Briliant work of Ludwig Mies ahead of his time. Many buildings today draw from this project, which was built in 1930

  • @EmitFlestiKY :-) There isn't Prague on this video. The second half of video shows Brno, bibliotheca in Rajhrad and other small south moravian town, Mikulov.

  • Tugendhat is like a time-capsule (cue tour guide: "See, this is what people is the 1930s thought the 'future' living-space would look like"); but from the perspective of today, it just looks sad, cold, dated, and banal. The truly great architecture was seen in the last half of the video...Prague Castle, the Tyn Church, Old Town Square, etc. give me a Medieaval Castle or Gothic Cathedral anyday over a modernist glass and steel box.
