With a creative use of RFID tags and innovative industrial design, Uchida Yoko has developed a unique Product Information and POS system, allowing consumers to make more educated buying decisions, and giving retailers more detailed information regarding consumer habits.

Used here for both wine sales and as an informative database, the Wine Information System helps customers discern the unique differences between a variety of wines.

The Style POS, co-developed by Uchida Yoko and Toshiba, is an innovative take on current POS systems, removing the register from view creating a clean counter space housing all POS equipment and encouraging contact between staff and customers.

Each product has an RFID tag in the base, and the staff ring up the items by sliding them over the RFID reader, once all items have been scanned, the customer selects the payment method, and if the customer selects electronic payment they can swipe their credit or debit card over the reader. A recipt is then automatically printed.

Product specific information can then be accessed by the customer after the purchase is made by using the QR Code or website address printed on the back of the recipt.

this is a very lame idea.

a typical POS COMPLETE system should cost you around $2000...

how much is "support" for one of these expensive units ?
