This is a video of the film 'The Right to Freedom of Assembly' starring Peter Dow, directed by David Graham Scott.

It profiles political website author Peter Dow who protested against Queen Elizabeth at the Scottish Parliament at Holyrood, Edinburgh in 2007.

This short film was produced as a 10-minute film chapter for the feature-length film 'The New Ten Commandments', a Scottish-produced human rights film which premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in summer 2008 and was broadcast on BBC Two television in December 2008.

Salmond has said she can remain Queen ONLY if the people of Scotland choose her to stay Queen.

She'll never be my Queen, never be someone I accept as head of any state that subjugates me. I want my freedom and a president of a republic that defends my constitutional rights.

The kingdom will rig any election or referendum so to keep the Queen but when they do, those who want a republic should demand one anyway even if most vote for the Queen. We need a Scottish republican army & a president and a state of our own. Lackey Scots who want the Queen can go their own way.

For me the issue is a parting of the ways. No compatriot of mine would force me into subjugation under a corrupt undemocratic monarchy. I'm a real, true, free, republican Scot only.

Those Scots who want the Queen, her judges and who presumably are indifferent to when good men and women are banged up in Her Majesty's Prison, to my mind are traitors to the Scots. To them I say "cheerio!".

We fight not for glory, nor honours nor riches but only and alone for freedom ..

If you're a Scottish Republican why do you carry around the Scottish Royal Standard?

I mean a non-democratic state, whether that state be a kingdom, or a Stalinist state, would crush any socialists attempting to oust capitalism and state capitalism as methods of production and distribution of goods and services with a view to establishing something better.

A DEMOCRATIC republic must mean GOVERNMENT BY ALL THE PEOPLE, including gays as well as straights, people of all colours of skin, of all religions and of none, men and women. So any democratic republican state constitutionally cannot be run by bigots and its the president's duty to ensure that or be booted out of office.

To build a socialist society to supersede capitalism comes next but to try that task without a democratic republican state would be folly. The state would crush socialists.

Well sure struggling for bigger, juicer carrots for workers is always worth supporting for any socialist.

It's very rare for capitalism itself to be challenged and whilst I am all for an anti-capitalist struggle, I am duty bound to point out to you the extreme dangers of confronting capitalism in an unprepared way, without a democratic republican state to watch our backs for example.

First things first, we need a republican revolution which will benefit all classes except the royalist elite.

But surely as a socialist you support class struggle and anti-capitalism, I just dont see how just getting rid of the queen will build up class conciseness and revolution?

How will it solve poverty, gay-rights, racism, encroaching theocracy from the church of england and the catholic church and womans rights?

If the working class were donkeys at work then

capitalism is the carrot,

monarchy, the kingdom's police, courts and HM Prisons - the state - is the stick

and fascism is when they take us to the knacker's yard.

A donkey who refuses the carrot regardless of the stick and the knacker's yard is a foolish donkey indeed.

Democratic socialist revolutions failed in Spain 1936 & Chile in 1973 because no republican army controlled the state. Scots need our army to oust the Queen.
