there not the built for speed, so no, but endurance is where you cannot match a malamute

German Shepherds are in the same size class as Malamutes. So on average, GSDs and Malamutes weigh the same. Maybe because Malamutes are built like Rottweilers and GSDs like Dobermans. I was pointing out the muscle mass of Malamutes, I think that is their constraint from running as freely as GSDs.

I couldn't believe it, this is just like my own malamutes when they were turned loose in the snow on Snoqualmie Pass, just off I-90 in Washington. Wonderful !

Can malamutes run as fast as other dogs such as German Shepherds and etc.

A Malamute is a large freighting sled dog. As such, they are not extremely fast like some lighter weight dogs. They are more like a line backer as opposed to a running back. That being said, Tonka can move out pretty good - but he wd have trouble catching a rabbit. But if he did catch it, bye bye rabbit. (grin)

If you are referring to the subdivision, yes, that is a subdivision in Highlands Ranch, CO. If you are referring to the mountains, then no, those are the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.
